Controlling Your Traditional Mailbox – STOP JUNK MAIL

We can all agree that SPAM is a real problem in the email world. We get unsolicited marketing, advertising and promotions sent to our emails and it has become so rampant that we have to have filters upon filters to keep our inbox in control. It’s annoying but at least there aren't any natural resources being consumed in the process. When we hit delete, it doesn’t mean we need to recycle or throw anything away.

Junk Mail is the same problem but in the paper world. Our mailboxes are stuffed with unaddressed admail, flyers, and garbage marketing that we don’t ask for but somehow get in our mailbox. But when we delete it, we have to throw it into the recycling bin and live with the guilt for having accepted it in the first place. 

Junk Mail is not like SPAM: there are real sacrifices that were made in order for us to have that piece of paper in our hands and put it in the bin. Trees were cut down, water and other resources were consumed to produce, deliver and recycle that flyer, and GHG emissions were released into the atmosphere throughout its lifecycle from production to disposal.
